We've chosen our final artists for the Porthleven exhibition!
We're so excited that so many artists were interested and think we have a nice range of disciplines in our final group. (Each week we'll be introducing you to one or two of the artists, so keep your eyes peeled!)
On Saturday we had our first meeting with a few of the artists and looked around The Lifeboat Studio, where the exhibition will be taking place. It's a wonderful building, full of atmosphere and as close as physically possible to the sea. (We'll have to do a blog post on the studio soon!)
Here's a photo of some of the artists looking around the space, sorry about the quality - it was taken on a phone.

An Evening Of Art Outdoors
An Evening of Art Outdoors
Starting up as a new creative events
group we wanted to make sure that our debut exhibition was not only successful,
but unforgettable. We decided to host our experience outside allowing both the
artists and the guests to be inspired by the context of the arts surrounding as
well as the pieces themselves.
Through this event our artists explored
our theme of 'A Midsummer Nights Dream' in a variety of mediums and styles. The
work on display ranged massively and included; Performance Art, Sculpture, 3D
Design, Illustration, Fine Art,
Installation Work and Photography.
Due to the unconventional layout of our
outdoors exhibition we decided to create a map, which would help people to
navigate the garden as well as to provide details and information on the artists.
Our event took place in the gardens of
St Michael’s Hotel & Spa in Falmouth, Cornwall.
These are some of our sculptures created for our exhibition by Alistair Dean.
These photographs were part of an installation piece by Natalie Lauren based on the quote;
"With the juice of this I'll streak her eyes, and make her full of hateful fantasies" - Oberon
Some of the illustrations created for our event by Briony Smith.
As the evening began to draw in and the
sun went down the garden seemed to come to life as the pieces of work
started to light up drawing more guests in from the nearby beach to have
a look.
Involving our guests in releasing
beautiful Chinese lanterns as it became dark created a lovely friendly
atmosphere and rounded off our evening perfectly.
The
evening was such a success and we are so grateful to everyone who helped
us along the way, but particularly a big thank you to all of our
contributing artists;
Ali Gibson - Alison Pascoe - Alistair Dean - Briony Smith - Cathy Evans
Natalie Lauren - Safia Megtali - Sally Crabtree
